It is my pleasure to welcome Fresher’s to the portal of Government College of Engineering & Technology (GCET) Jammu, an institution of the Higher Education Department, J&K UT, dedicated to empowering students with sound knowledge, wisdom, experience and training both at the academic level of Engineering and in the highly competitive global industrial market. The institute started its voyage in 1994 with a vision of navigating the intricate ocean of science and engineering through the power of the human mind, body and soul. Its journey over nearly three decades has witnessed a strong blend of state-of-the-art infrastructure and dedicated human resources committed to providing professional education with a thrust on creativity and innovation. The motivating environment of the institution stimulates students towards knowledge assimilation, hands-on experience through research and training, human values, social responsibility and commitment to society.

      The special emphasis is on Outcome Based Education (OBE) and Experiential Learning. Academic activities focus on helping students develop a strong theoretical foundation, advanced technical competence, inventiveness, accuracy, precision, resilience, enthusiasm and critical reasoning. We continuously review, upgrade and update our systems to ensure that students acquire analytical thinking, entrepreneurial abilities, life skills, interpersonal skills and effective communication skills during their stay at the institute.

      GCET has entered into several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with various organizations and industries for academic and research collaboration. This has led to the establishment of robust industry linkages aimed at providing extensive exposure to students through training and internships in diverse fields. These collaborations not only enhance the quality of education but also create opportunities for research and innovation.

      There is ample scope for co-curricular and extracurricular activities at GCET, where students are encouraged to showcase their talents. The institution ensures that students emerge not only as competent engineers but also as responsible and ideal citizens. University results and placement records speak of our excellence, with many students securing top ranks in university examinations and a large number finding placements in administrative services, national and multinational organizations.
